A Recommended Heritage Hotel Experience in George Town

No doubt about it, Seven Terraces is a wonderful way to experience Peranakan style Georgetown. Lovingly restored, furnished and maintained. And in an excellent location for strolling around the vibrant surrounding streets. We stayed in the Argus Apartment which is their largest room(s) and, in truth, better suited to a family than a couple. But delightful, spread across two levels with an outside terrace and balcony overlooking the pool. And yes, the stairs separating the bedroom and main bathroom are very steep but the provision of a toilet upstairs means you can avoid them at night (which is just as well!). We had one meal at the restaurant which was ok rather than great, but that might be down to our selection of dishes. Service itself was a bit haphazard, but that's fine as they make a point of providing training to migrants with limited command of English. That said, we gave up on the bar. Liked the cocktails but having to listen to the staff bicker amongst themselves killed the ambience! A tip for lunch. Try Mews Cafe!

Location in center of historical center is excellent. Building and furnitures take you back in the rich past of the city. Swimming pool in quiet area invite for a rest. Bar and restaurant highly recommandable … very fine foods

A most beautifully restored Peranakan style hotel. Felt like living in a movie set! The service was excellent and daily afternoon tea on request in the sitting room was a lovely touch. Located in George Town and so very walkable to all the famous and heritage places of interest and food places in Penang.

Nice to experience early 1900s living. Beautiful antique furniture. Staff very good. Stairs to bedroom a bit of a challenge to us because we are elderly. Great potential but does need a bit of maintenance. Large rooms with good shower. Ideally placed for Heritage area of Georgetown.

A beautifully restored terrace making for an unusual, but comfortable, place to stay for our three day visit to Penang. It is a bit like staying in a museum - with lots of artifacts adorning the rooms. The hotel is placed centrally in Georgetown, which means there is plenty to see and lots of options for eating out. We did have one evening meal in the restaurant, which was lovely. The only grumble is that my wife is gluten and dairy intolerant which meant a very limited range of options for her at breakfast.
